2011 STATE TOURNAMENT OVERTIME AND PK RULES

There is NO sudden victory at any stage of the tournament.

THRU THE SEMIFINALS-
There will TWO ten minute OT periods, played IN FULL.
Followed by penalty kicks, no sudden victory.
All rounds of 5 kicks.
Players may repeat after 10 kicks per team.
Yellow cards carry over.
Specifically, if a player receives a yellow card in the
2nd 10 minute OT period, that player may not kick in the 1st round of 5 pk kicks.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES ONLY-
There will be TWO FULL 15 minute OT periods.
Then co-champs. no PKs.

****NO SUDDEN VICTORY in STATE TOURNAMENT GAMES****

If a tie exists at the end of regulation a ten minute overtime period will be used. If tied after the first
overtime period, a second ten minute overtime period will be held. There will be no “sudden victory” used
in the overtime period in 2009 (See page 10 of the tournament document for details.)

SO this is what is called SILVER GOAL.
If there is a goal scored in the 1st OT, we continue playing.
This gives the other team a chance to score during the 1st OT.
If the score is NOT TIED at the end of the 1st OT, the game is OVER.
If the score is tied at the end of the 1st OT, the 2nd 10 minute OT period is played- and it is played to its conclusion no matter what the score.
